Why did my "one-year free Apple TV+" offer turn out to be one week?

I bought a Macbook Air recently and received an email that I was eligible for a one-year trial of Apple TV+. So I click on the link in the email "Start 1 Year Free", get directed to the Aple TV+ website where I put in my Apple ID, and find out I'm signed up for a whopping one-week free trial. Has this happened to anyone else?

If you can't redeem your promotional trial of Apple TV+ - Apple Support

If you already signed up for the week trial, then contact Apple Support.
