I need to reset my Apple TV and add the remote feature from my phone to work it

Apple TV 3rd generation. Remote not working even after battery replaced. Light on Apple TV blinks when I hit the controls but nothing happens.

You may need to link the remote again to the Apple TV box.

If your Apple TV remote isn’t working - Apple Support (Do all three steps.)
