Target Display Mode

Can a late 2009 21.5 " iMac be used with target display mode? Source Mac is a 2018 15" MBP. I will get a USB-C thunderbolt to Mini DisplayPort cable if this is possible. Conflicting info online. Thanks!

What cable/adapter do I require to connect IMac (late 2013) Thunderbolt port to a Mini Mac M2Pro I Mac (Late 2013) has two thunderbolt ports. I would like to connect this computer to the thunderbolt port on either a MiniMac 2023 or MiniMac Pro 2023 to enable Target Display Mode.. I require a thunderbolt cable but as the iMac has thunderbolt 1 ports and the Mini Mac has thunderbolt 4 ports What cable and adapter do I require?

iMac 2013 in Target Display mode for iMac I have a 27" iMac late 2013 that I would like to use in Target Display mode to act as an external display for a 21.5" iMac 2017. The late 2013 iMac uses Thunderbolt 1 and the 2017 iMac has Thunderbolt 3. Will the simple all-in-one USB C to Mini DisplayPort Cable cable available for around 15 bucks on Amazon work SOLELY for that purpose? Or do I need to use Apple's Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adaptor along with a Thunderbolt 1/2 cable to make that work? I tried to include a product link but it won't let me. Thank you for anyone who knows.

Not conflicting info at all Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

Only 27” models from 2009 could be used in Target Display Mode.

No, the only 2009's that supported Target Display Mode were late 2009 27" models. 21.5" 2009's never supported Target Display Mode!
