Can a late 2009 21.5 " iMac be used with target display mode? Source Mac is a 2018 15" MBP. I will get a USB-C thunderbolt to Mini DisplayPort cable if this is possible. Conflicting info online. Thanks!

No, the only 2009's that supported Target Display Mode were late 2009 27" models. 21.5" 2009's never supported Target Display Mode!
