I appreciate you responding to my question. Wasn't Apple intelligent enough to design a product that could be upgraded OR so greedy that they want users to buy a newer version. Sorry, I will not upgrade my iPod as I still have and use my first iPod Classic 50G. They both will hold my music but I will remove all other apps as they duplicate my iPhone. Updating one Apple product is enough.

So your on an iPod touch 6th gen right, so I have a 6th gen to and this completely normal mine only goes to 12.5 to. So if you want ios14 then you will have to get an iPod touch 7th gen (these are £199/$199

Because it's a 6th generation iPod which does not have the hardware to update past 12.5.

Thank you for your response. At 72, I have enough iPods. I will use my Gen 6 for my music and go to my iPhone for Audible Books as they suggest the14.0 upgrade. Thanks again.
