I bought Apple TV 4K and HomePod about 1.5 years ago and they both work fine and I’ve never used the HomePod for the TV audio nor would I want to. Then a couple months ago the TV started randomly selecting audio for both HDMI AND HomePod. Not every time, but annoying. Now it has also started randomly selecting ONLY HomePod?? Why would audio change at all by itself? Is there a way to remove HomePod as an option?

To not use HomePod:
With Apple TV: From the Home screen on Apple TV, select Settings > Video and Audio > Default Audio Output. Select the TV Speakers as the default Audio
It might have changed due to a software update being installed on HomePod and/or Apple TV

I didn’t have that setting but I checked and realized I thought install software updates automatically meant that. But they *really* mean if you click to download software THEN we’ll auto install... I was at 13.6 or something—updated to 14.4 and now have the default audio setting available, thanks!
