I have no idea what this means. Moreover when I try to visit the prescribed apple support address given, I get "This page cannot be found."

Apple is no longer using Bash (Bourne-Again Shell) as they don't want to include a GPL-3.0 project in macOS, so they now use Zsh.
Don’t worry, it doesn’t affect you or the vast majority of users in any way. Just like it was said, they use a different shell as the default. People who use a shell for more than just typing short commands in Terminal know how to handle this. For everyone else, it is totally irrelevant.
