Unlocking MacOS with Apple Watch Stopped Working

Unlocking MacOS with Apple Watch Stopped Working after adding Bluetooth Headphones. Headphone are now turned off .

Apple Watch4 is connected to iPhone 10. All 3 have the latest operating systems(Big Sur 11.1, 14.2, 7.2) . All the requirements posted by Apple have been verified. When I check box for unlock on System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General; it then starts "Turning on" (greyed out) and a spinning windmill which then shows a popup which states "Your Mac was unable to communicate with your Apple Watch". The watch is on wrist, unlocked, turned on and about 6 inches from the iMac.

Hi ‘arw846’,

Are both of your devices using the same iCloud account? And is your iCloud account using two factor authentication? If or when these two are true then it may be worth restarting your Mac and seeing if it works then.

Or it may be a case that you haven’t clicked on the padlock symbol on the bottom left of the settings tab, if not then press that, then enter an administrator’s name and password , click ‘OK’ , if it has been unlocked successfully then it should indicate so by showing an opened lock. Then you should click to allow u

Mac unlock with Apple Watch. Also make sure your Apple Watch has a password.
