Apple Watch series 6 not notifying texts

My Apple Watch series 6 will not vibrate or notify me when a text comes in. The text shows up in the swipe down Notification Center on my watch but it will not vibrate or notify me. My phone and watch are paired and my watch is the cellular model. I’ve tried to mess with the notification settings, I’ve done custom notifications, I’ve had it mirror my phone, I’ve reset both my phone and my watch.


what’s weird about it is my watch will vibrate and notify me of every other notification type. Like if I receive a phone call, or Snapchat, or Facebook message, etc etc. but if I receive a text message or iMessage it will not notify me. My cell service provider is first net through At&T

Thanks for getting back to us and for attempting those steps. You mentioned resetting your Apple Watch and iPhone. Did you specifically unpair the Apple Watch to your iPhone and re-paired it? If not, let's unpair and re-pair the Apple Watch to your iPhone. Then test and see, if you're able to be notified of your text messages. Here's two helpful articles on how to perform each step:

Are you experiencing this behavior, while the paired iPhone is unlocked? If so, notifications for your text messages will not vibrate or notify you on your Apple Watch. Here's an article with additional details: Notifications on your Apple Watch


If the iPhone is locked or asleep, please restart both the Apple Watch and the iPhone to see if that helps. Here's two articles on how to perform each step: Restart Apple Watch and Restart your iPhone

Thanks for the reply! I went ahead and restarted both my Apple Watch and the paired phone again. But the problem still persists. When my phone is asleep or in my pocket the watch will not vibrate or otherwise alert me of text or iMessages. The texts show up in the watches swipe down Notification Center but only if I manually swipe down on it.
