Macbook is starting up with a question mark, however, once I get to reinstall the macOS, it states that it cannot download the necessary components to complete the download. So how do I repair the question mark startup issue?

attempted to factory reset MacBook pro that i got from my uncle - is now loading up with a folder with a question mark - googled it. So, I have attempted to repair the start-up disk with the repair menu and reinstall the macOS, but then it says it can't download the necessary components.

Hi,

Try to boot the Recovery Mode with option+command+r to install the latest macOS on your MacBook Pro.

If it doesn't work, contact Apple Support or make Genius Bar reservation if your neighborhood retail Apple Store is open or find near you opened Apple Authorized Service Provider to reinstall macOS on your MacBook Pro for free.
