New MacBook Air but Old OS??!!

my new MacBook was shipped with catalina, but my old MacBook has big sur! how do I upgrade my new MacBook before transferring data??

Download Big Sur through the link provided; you can start the Migration Assistant later by choosing Utilities in the Finder's Go menu and opening it, but it'll transfer home folders into a different user account.
