There is no such things as an iPad Air 6th gen.

What is the “A” and/or “M” model of your iPad?

That info is in the Settings app, General, About.

A 2018, 6th gen iPad uses the 1st gen Apple Pencil.

If you own an older iPad Air ( like an iPad Air 1 or 2 ), NO Apple Pencil is compatible.

If you have the brand new 2020 iPad Air 4TH generation, THAT model uses the newer, more expensive, 2nd gen Apple Pencil.
