We can print from our M1 MacBooks using our Canon MX870 multi-function printer but cannot access the scanner. We have tried all the suggestions on-line so far without success. Any other ideas? If not, which new multi-function photo printer/scanner is recommended?

Hi Roberto: I deleted all Canon previous software, emptied the trash and followed the advice posted two years ago by VikingOSX and downloaded Canon Printer Drivers v3.4 for OS X. for OS X.Presto, problem solved.

For my MX870 I didn't have to download any drivers from anywhere for my Mac M1. It just worked as I followed these instructions.
I followed the advice posted two years ago by VikingOSX and downloaded Canon Printer Drivers v3.4 for OS X. for OS X.Presto, problem solved. Thanks to all.
for the Canon I'd go to their website to determine if any software updaters. If not I use epson XP-8600 and it is quiet and quick and scans and prints fast. Photos are exceptional. 6 color Clara ink.

Yes, i just installed an older Driver on Big Sur and it works properly. Thanks for the answer.
