I redeemed my gift card but I can’t make purchases

how-can I make a purchase on the App Store using a redeemed gift card.

The balance is there but when I go to purchase it requests my credit card info.

Then it is likely one of two things. You can't pay for in-app purchases with account credit or the total is more than the credit after the local sales taxes are added in the final steps of the sale.
