Running Catalina on 27" late 2013 iMac. Why do I get the update of Garageband for Big Sur offered, causing a permanent red badge in the app store icon for an update that is not compatible with my system?

I'm on Catalina and I want to download Garageband. I get the message that I need Version 11 or later. So I go to Big Sur but my Mac is telling me that no updates are available. Can anyone help? Apparently an Apple glitch. Got rid of the badge by uninstalling GarageBand and re-downloading it from "Purchased". You can also try compressing it and again, download from "Purchased".
