I've been trying to update my 2017 5K 27" Mac to 11.1. Each time I attempt, it begins to download but then stops and shows a message that says it failed. I've tried disconnecting my wifi and plugging in the ethernet calble and disconnecting from my VPN service. I'm also unable to update my iMovie app through the App Store.
Thoughts?

It turned out to be a space issue with the fusion drive - there wasn't enough!

Boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and try the update from there.
that did it for me , I read it on another thread with the same issue
Try restarting the Access Point and try ethernet connection to download.
