I just tried to follow instructions from this website to create a bootable usb (command below), and got the error that "createinstallmedia" command not found.
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume
What gives?

Did you download the Catalina installer? Is the Catalina installer app in your Applications folder? The "createinstallmedia" utility is contained within the Catalina installer app. Here is an Apple article with links to download the various macOS installers including Catalina:

I did change the name of the volume (it is "Untitled"), but the command is not in the Applications folder. I can't upgrade to Big Sur because my drive is full (thus the project I am embarking on to upgrade the SSD).
Is there a way to have the missing Catalina files installed? Or is there a different way to accomplish this goal?
Thank you. I managed to install Catalina before my ssd got full, so I expected the installer to still be there (it must get cleaned up). I am now trying to move my photos library to an external drive etc to get enough space back to download Big Sur and its installer.
When the installer finishes, it deletes itself, so that explains it.
Assuming "Install macOS Catalina" is in the Applications folder, did you change "MyVolume" to the name of the drive you are using?
Well, first of all 'createinstallmedia' is a Terminal command. It wouldn't be in the Applications folder.
