Why is "createinstallmedia" not found on my Catalina laptop?

I just tried to follow instructions from this website to create a bootable usb (command below), and got the error that "createinstallmedia" command not found.


sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume


What gives?

Did you download the Catalina installer? Is the Catalina installer app in your Applications folder? The "createinstallmedia" utility is contained within the Catalina installer app. Here is an Apple article with links to download the various macOS installers including Catalina:
