iPhone 12 mini not showing in Finder sidebar

When I connect my recently purchased iPhone 12 mini to my MacBook Pro (running Big Sur 11.0.1), it appears for a second or so in the Finder sidebar and then disappears again.

I have tried the supposed "fixes" (preference settings, etc.) without success. What can I do? I want to sync my music libraries and other items and backup via WiFi.

Thanks.

Howdy,

When your iPhone vanishes from the Finder but is still connected, is it still seen in the System Report under the USB Device Tree as explained in this article?

If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

And what steps in that article have you tried?

Thanks,

ivan
