when I try to connect my Apple Watch to my phone it gives me an activation lock witch is set up to my account but when I type in my username and password it says it’s incorrect but it’s not and I tried resetting my password, please help me with this it was a gift but was not linked to that account.

The person that gave it you didn't remove the activation lock,that's why your apple id is being rejected.
