scanner Pixma 4511 not recognised after installation

I have a recurring problem withmy Pixma 4511 printer/ scanner. So upon installation everything works like a charm. You can print, scan, copy, it just works. The pixma is connected to the macbook pro via wifi.

After turning off the printer/ scanner and mac, this changes. Suddenly the mac doesn't find the pixma and vice versa. Restarting doesn't work ( both mac and pixma) My iphone and iPad can still find the pixma through the same network. So it's a thing between the macbook pro and the pixma.

Any ideas how I can restore the connection between both without having to go through the setup process every time?

The macbook pro is on Big Sur. The drivers for the Pixma are for Catalina. I'm waiting for Canon to upgrade these.

Did you try to use the default driver, that is provided by macOS, instead of installing the driver/software from Canon?

This issue seems also to affect other brands like HP Printer/Scanner devices.

I installed the Catalina driver, provided by Catalina, when I connected my HP printer/scanner via AirPrint, and did not download the software form the Manufacturer-Support page.

At least I can use the scanner, by opening the printer in the system preferences.
