It depends on the extent of the damage. If the drive is ok, you should be able to. Do you have a backup on an external drive? You should always have one. Tell Apple that you need to get data off the drive

If you care about your data then you shouldn't choose the autorised service. You will lose you all data in any case of "repair" it's hard to call it repair as all what can they offer is only new parts.

Data can get lost no matter who works on a computer. Authorized service or not is irrelevant. And, Apple includes that warning in their paperwork; after all, you are responsible for your data - no one else is. And, if the parts are corroded, there is no way to "repair" - it needs to be replaced.
