Backups

I asked this question already but I wanted to rephrase it. If I log into my iCloud on someone else’s phone, if I select the “backup” option on settings, will their data merge to my iCloud? I remember at one point I got a pop up saying that data could not be merged because things like messages or photos did not belong to the same iCloud account
