Using Windows 10 Home, updated and iPod classic 160GB, iTunes does not recognize iPod. Window file explorer popped up and showed iPod on K:, named and then a list of iPod contents. There was no icon showing connected device. "sync" was greyed out.
This is same connection physically with which I sync my iPods.

I bet it's Windows fault.
I plugged one in and since iTunes didn't pick it up, I got called away. When I came back, there it was, and iTunes had begun playing it. Windows slowed its access. (Typical of Windows)
