Update to 10.13.6 locking up and I
cant reboot
iMac 27″, macOS 10.13
Hold power button in until it shuts down.
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
Do I hold the shift key down the entire time it is starting up?
it is taking forever. Or just when I hear the startup chime?
Yes, it can take a long time if there are HDD problems.
It finally started up (save mode)
I put in my user password word and now black screen????
