Device output options missing after recent OS catalina 10.15.7 update

The Internal /build in speakers option for device output for my Macbook pro is missing after recent OS Catalina 10.15.7 update. Is there any driver to upload? I can't get sound output unless using earphones or bluetooth. However, I can confirm it's a software or firmware issue as sound came back awhile when I removed the earphone jack just now. But as soon as I checked the System Preference > Sound option, it disappeared again. How to get it back?
