Saving my photos to my iCloud

Hi. So yesterday i purchased more iCloud storage space for 79p. It took about 14hours for the back up complete. However once this was done I looked at my photos and it showed that still 1200 pics had not been saved on to my iCloud even though I had purchased 50 gb of storage.

can anyone tell me why or how I can save my pics into my iCloud as I definitely have the space for it now?
