Got a 2020 Mac air with a manufacturing defect

I recently bought a Mac Air(2020) from the new apple website which opened. I was really excited about the product as this was my first laptop. I was no way let down after getting the laptop as I loved the build and finish of it and the way it worked seamlessly connecting to my other apple devices. However yesterday suddenly I started getting pink and green horizontal line all over my screen and then I contacted apple support and they told me to get a diagnosis done for the product which I did as it states their are hardware issues with the computer. It has been less that ‘ONE’ month since I have gotten the laptop and their are hardware issues means it was a manufacturing defect as I did not drop the laptop nor any liquids went into the system and the diagnosis report states the same. I asked for a replacement from the apple team and they told me they would not replace my apple product and that they would only repair it. Why would I want a my brand new laptop to go for repair and get opened. I did not pay $1240(Indian price) to get a defected laptop and then send it for repair that to in these times when I really need it the most. What are the chances of me getting a replacement?
