"FCPX scrolling"

Scrolling in FCPX

Using MacBook Air 13 inch early 2015.

The only scrolling that I saw available in FCPX 10.4.10 is Titles>Credits>Scrolling.

Wished to have text, not credits. Put in the title of the text that I wished (worked OK), then in Inspector, put in carriage return after the title, and then the text that I had. Highlighted the "credits" area and deleted.

This worked fairly well...title and text scrolled. but then continued with blank screen for a bit.

Is there any way to have this end after the end of the scrolled text?

The "Scrolling" title will play until the last line of text goes out of the frame.

If you want it to stop early, here is how you do it.

Let us say, as an example, that you want your title to last 10 seconds, and then freeze with the last full screen of text still displayed, for another 3 seconds.

1) Prepare the title text so that at 10 seconds it shows the last full screen of text

[this means that the duration of the title will be longer than those 10 seconds]

2) Make the title into a Compound Clip (Option-G)

3) Trim the end of the Compound Clip to make it 10 seconds.

4) Place the cursor at the last frame of the compound, and press Shift-H to create a Hold frame. Adjust the duration.

Done.
