Is it going to COST me to get my own music from iTunes Music library?

When I click Sync library in my Music preferences on my MacBook Pro, I get a message that This account does not have iCloud Music enabled.

I do not pay for a music service (although I THOUGHT I was getting Apple Music free from Verizon when I bought my new iPhone…). I have 20 years worth of music on Apple Music that I don't have on newer devices. How do I get it?

Hi,

You only have an iCloud music library if you subscribe to iTunes Match or Apple Music.

Sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod using your computer – Apple Support

You don’t need a subscription to play music in your library.
