We understand from your post that you want to purchase and use an unlocked iPhone 12 Pro Max outside of the USA, then bring it to the USA and use it with a US wireless carrier. When you insert your SIM card into an unlocked iPhone, the iPhone may lock to the carrier you have chosen to use. If that is the case you will have to request the iPhone be unlocked from that carrier before using it with another carrier.
