upgrading from Sierra to High Sierra on Macbook Pro mid 2012

Will installing High Sierra from Sierra on MacbookPro mid 2012 erase everything on it? If it does - How do I just do an upgrade so it won't erase my data/documents and settings?

1. No, unless a problem occurs.

2. Back up your data first; this can be done with Time Machine or a cloning utility.
