Desktop pictures

Desktop pictures —> there used to be several options under desktop pictures in system preferences so the pictures would look best on the screen. As I recall, fit to screen, fill screen, or crop, I think. However there are no options at all now how a desktop picture will display. Now they all seem to “fill the screen” and you see only a portion of the picture, I think that option used to be “fill screeen” rather than fit to screen, so you would see the entire picture although you may have empty spaces on either side.

One would have to do something with each individual picture in library desktop pictures in order for pictures to display as you would prefer.

Does anybody know how to fix this or is there an option that I am not able to find? I would think there would be more options added rather than taken away in new system updates. I have a newer iMac running Catalina and a older iMac running Sierra and neither have the options for desktop pictures anymore.

Thank you, Seth

The Default Desktop Pictures does not offer you those options, but if you select images from within Photos

or a Folder then those options become available to you.

Oh thank you very much. I thought if you clicked on a picture options would show, but I was clicking the picture in the wrong location. I was clicking the pictures within the larger window on the right, instead of on the left. I was close, but no cigar. Again, thank you for answering my question.

I can now fix the pictures that don’t show properly, which are ones that I added to desktop pictures folder in library, so it won’t be that bad Of a task!

Thank you, Seth
