Apple Watch SE/Cellular and Spotify

So I'm pretty new to apple. Just purchased the SE watch with cellular. Other devices are an iPhone 11 max and the airpod pros. Need some help


I'm trying to get spotify to play from my watch to my earbuds without my phone and it's not working. The whole reason for getting the watch and cellular service for it was to be able to run and listen to music without carrying around this laptop of a phone. Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried turning off bluetooth and even shutting the phone down to try but no luck. I can get notification sounds from my watch to headphones but that's it. Thanks

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand you'd like to be able to listen to Spotify directly from your Apple Watch without your iPhone. Looking at the Spotify help pages, it appears the app installed on your watch, simply acts like a remote, to control the app when your iPhone is nearby.
