QuickTime stops recording immediately after it begins recording

My QuickTime will let me set everything up to Screen Recordings, but then stops **immediately** after the little record icon appears on the upper bar. It shows no file, or anything like that to preview. It also tends to stop responding during Movie Recordings. I have not tried Audio Recordings.

My instinct is to reinstall it, but since it's baked into the OS, I don't think that I'm going to be able to do that. Any idea what I should do here?

I have checked all my privacy settings, and QuickTime has full permissions to camera and screen recording.

Greetings kwillful

It looks like you are having some trouble with QuickTime screen recordings stopping immediately after you start recording. We have a few steps to try and get that resolved. First check to make sure you have storage space available on your device: How to free up storage space on your Mac. After checking your storage try doing a screen recording in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac. That will help see if the issue is related to any user settings.

We hope that helps! Take care.
