Windows 10 on the Mac with Boot Camp Assistant

Hello I wanted to download Windows 10 on the Mac with Boot Camp Assistant, but on apple support it says that 64GB of memory is needed, can I use the memory of an external hard drive? Like turning the external hard drive into a startup disk or some other way?

Think about this. If you buy a Windows PC today you will be hard pressed to find a decent new 128GB machine. 256GB would likely be the minimum you would buy. Why would you think Windows would require less on a Mac? You don't have enough space to run 2 modern operating systems on the main drive.
