Unpairing Watch From Damaged Phone

How do I unpair my watch from my damaged iPhone X, which is dead.

I have tried to do a reset on the watch but I get a warning saying the activation lock will NOT be removed.

I will want to pair to my new phone.

The activation lock is to your apple ID, not to your phone.

Reset your watch as you already started, and when you set up the watch to your new iPhone you will need to provide the apple ID and password used with the watch.

As long as you use the same apple ID still that will not stop you :)

On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.

Go to Find Iphone.

Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.

Click Erase Apple Watch.

Select Next until the device is erased.

Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.
