Mac OS X Server For Lion

I have an iMac from 2006 running 10.7.5 (Lion) and need to install Apple's server software. I know that to download the server software on a mac that is not running 10.15 (Catalina) you have to purchase the software from a mac running 10.15 (Catalina) then sign in to the app store then download it onto the older computer. However, I don't thinks this works with Lion because there is some other way the server software was made for it. So my questions is what do I need to do to get the server software for 10.7.5 (Lion)?

Thanks,

OS X 10.7 Server was the first of the new-style Server.app distributions.

You will need a pretty old version of Server.app, too.

If the older versions of Server are still in your purchase history, you’ll be able to download those.

If you don’t have the old Server in your purchase history, you’ll prolly have to chat directly with Apple.

I ended up skipping OS X Server 10.7 due to limitations and bugs, upgrading from 10.6 to 10.8.

OS X Server 10.6 was the last of the separate OS X Server distributions.

I unfortunately have not purchased any versions of Apples server software in the past. However, (Kind of related) I got a copy of Mac OS X Server 10.4 off of Ebay recently, but I don't know if Apple still has the servers that validate the license keys running (Probably not). Do you know any ways to activate it?

With the key. The ten-user key for OS X Server 10.6 and earlier was $500 back then, the unlimited-user key was $1000.

I doubt Apple still has keys for that available, but you'd want to confirm that with them.

With 10.4, that kit may well require PPC. That was around the PPC to x86 cut-over, and I was using the x86 kits back then and not the PPC kits. MacTracker indicates both PPC kits and Universal kits existed for 10.4.8.

Some of the OS X kits back then were retail and worked on different servers, and some kits were tied to specific server models.

What’s your general goal here? Code archaeology? Or... serving files? Or... what?
