External monitor on 2020 iMac?

How do I connect an external monitor to my new iMAc (Retina 5K, 27" 2020)? My display preferences does not have an "arrangement" tab.

The "arrangement" tab will appear when iMac detects another monitor. Without connecting to extra monitor, "arrangement" will not show up.

iMac 2020 would use TB 3 for additional monitor. Please refer to the information below, as well the spec of the external monitor for compatibility check.

Thank you, The iMac recognized the monitor when connected to the HDMI cable with the apple USB-C to Digital AV Multiport Adapter. It did not recognize the monitor when I connected the HDMI cable to a third party HDMI to Thunderbolt 2 adapter and then to and apple Thunderbolt 2 to USB-C adapter.

The Thunderbolt 3 adapter will not work with non-Thunderbolt displays or adapters.

First you decide what external display you want the you buy the appropriate cables and adapters and then you connect it,
