If your computer came new with Catalina you can not downgrade it.

I was trying to downgrade by Time Machine but it take long time, how long to revert to a previous version ?!
It said (Searching for backup...), how long should I wait?! Is it normal to take a time !؟
Depends a lot on drive speed & interface speed, could be many hours.
