Caps lock light won't turn off

Brand new Macbook Pro - caps lock light won't turn off, the button itself functions normally allowing me to go between caps on and off. I've tried going into settings and turning off the buttons function completely but the light stays on, even when the laptop dies of when the rest of the keyboard lights are turned off due to inactivity.
