how to connect usb

I have MacBook Air with USB port on it. If I want to connect USB type C to USB port of my MacBook Air, what connector should I have??

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

That's not going to work as you hope, sorry. The SD card slot may work. I doubt the LAN will work (but it might). You will not get video out, certainly. Basically, the hub is designed for a newer computer with Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports that carry far more data than the USB-A ports on your older Mac.

I've a multiport connectors(lan, SD, HDMI, VGA ports) with USB type C male to type C female. I also have one MacBook air(2013) with no type C female port. I want to use this multiport adapter connect with my old MacBook air.

I'm not sure which USB type C female to USB male adapter (connect to MacBook Air) can transmit HDMI or video data? Can someone suggest a model or brand?
