Can’t connect my phone to itunes on MacBook Pro 2020

guys, am trying to connect my iphone to itunes on my new MacBook Pro 2020 but its not showing at all .. no problem with my cable as i was using ot on my old MacBook Pro and all was good.. and the software is updated in both my MacBook and my phone kindly assist as i am out of solutions .. my phone is iphone xs Max if that helps in a way or another!
