Screen recording didn't save but it's still consuming space (via "Others")

I made a screen recording that's about 18 minutes or something. But when I stopped the recording, the "saved to Photos" notification never came even after a few hours.

It never appeared in my Photos app but my free storage went down by 4 GB and my "Others" went up by ... also about 4 GB. So I'm assuming that my screen recording is stuck in Limbo somewhere in the cache or temporary files.

Question is, is there a way I can retrieve it or is it gone forever? Even through some PC tool or something? Thanks in advance.

Hi Frankris,

We understand your screen recordings are not showing up in the Photos application. We'd be happy to help.

We'd first recommend checking the Recently Deleted folder in Photos > Albums, to make sure the items are not in there.

If you use the iCloud Photo Library service, try checking directly on the iCloud website to see if the videos are showing up there.

If you store your pictures and videos directly on your device, you can check to see if you have a backup available from when the items were still on the device. Just navigate to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Backups.

If you have a backup available from when the items were still on your device, you can restore it to bring them back.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

We hope this helps. Cheers!
