Song Not Available In Country Or Region Bug

Been trying to resolve this for a while. Every time I sync my iPhone to add new music from CD or work dropboxes to the phone, a whole bunch of previous tracks - including ones I've downloaded from iTunes - vanish or get greyed out, with the warning "This Song Is Not Available In Your Country Or Region."

  • I am not using Sync Library - I don't have enough room so I have to pick and choose.
  • It will *quite happily* sync random junk from my day job (podcasting) if I'm not careful.
  • There is no function on my iPhone settings to "Reset Warnings" which others have suggested in previous threads.

Also: the function to add single tracks to my device from the Mac Music App does not appear to work at all - sometimes it will say "Syncing" and then jam.

Hello LPAudioboo,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you've encountered a few different unusual results when syncing your Music Library from the computer to your iPhone, including warning messages, missing or unplayable songs, and interruptions while syncing. We know you'd like to enjoy your music without interruption, and have confidence in what you're syncing over to your iPhone.

We'll be glad to assist you with tips for syncing your selected items from the computer to your iPhone. To get started, can you confirm if you've tried these steps to Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer?

If yes, and you continue to encounter an issue with the content which is synced over or if the syncing process is interrupted, then please tell us:

  1. Which OS version is installed on your computer?
  2. Has your iPhone been updated to the latest version?
  3. Are you syncing over Wi-Fi or while the iPhone is connected via a USB Cable?

All the best!

1) Yes, I followed the correct instructions to sync.

2) I'm using a fresh install of Catalina.

3) While the iPhone is connected using a USB cable.

Errors include:

  • multiple songs/audio tracks becoming "greyed out" as not available in country/region, having been transferred from CD or dropbox
  • song titles scrambled and/or replaced with random strings of numbers
  • songs not playing full length or cutting out, including songs purchased from iTunes Store

See this post on erratic syncing. I believe this error message is sometimes triggered by improperly copied files.

Note that Sync Library is used if your have iTunes Match or Apple Music to give your device access to your entire music collection and playlists through the cloud, you can choose how much is downloaded to the device for offline use.
