I just updated my laptop to Mc OS Catalina and now it will not let me scan from my copier. It says I need to update the app. Say's I need a 64 bit version

Yes, Catalina does not run 32-bit apps at all. Contact the manufacturer of your scanner (I'd start by checking their website) about an updated driver/app.
