Why is my Apple ID Locked?

I signed in using the correct Apple ID and Password and I received a message that said "Your account is locked for security reasons." and I don’t have the phone that my Apple ID was signed into.

Apple ID I have never had my Apple ID locked for security reasons before, up until this morning. Is this because someone was trying to use my Apple ID?

That usually means that someone tried to hack your account. See—>If your Apple ID is locked or disabled - Apple Support
