Wrong location when logging into Two Stage Verification.

Every time I log in with the new Two Stage Verification, I am warned that someone near Birmingham is trying to use my Apple ID. I live in Scotland! Initially I refused access. I have now allowed access and duly received the security codes to allow me into my account. Clearly I was the mysterious enquirer in Brummie land all the time. The location finder on Apple appears therefore to be well off course. Does anyone else have this problem? I tried lookinng for a Help function at Apple and this seems to be the only route. Thank you!

If this is an e-mail you received, or a popup on the screen, about the time you were actually logging in, there is probably nothing to worry about. The location in the e-mail is where your ISP reported it. If their servers are in a location distant from you, there will be a large error. Based on other posts I have read, the distant error can be very large.

Thanks Eric. I found an email contact at Apple who confirmed the same point. When the location quoted is 300 miles away in a different country alarm bells start ringing. I changed my password twice because I believed someone was trying to hack into my account. In my opinion sending a map to pin point your position which is clearly wrong is misleading and is therefore unhelpful. Better just to alert the user that someone wants to change something on your account and, if it is yourself, you will be able to recognise it immediately. Thanks again

Are you trying to log in and the location is wrong? Or is someone else trying to access your Apple ID. If someone else is trying to use your Apple ID, change your password immediately.
