I wish I could add the calendar to the control center.

Am I missing a way to do so?

No way to do it (at the moment). You can submit your request to Apple directly, using this link:--> Apple – Product Feedback - iPhone

But you can add your calendar to your widgets. See how:--> Use widgets on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
