Multilingual autocorrect not working

When iOS introduced the multilingual autocorrect option, it was working fine. I was typing in both english and french while it was detecting and autocorrecting adequately without having to change the keyboard in the earth icon.

A month ago, it stopped working all of a sudden and only corrects in english. Whether I type in french or italian, it always autocorrects to an english word, forcing me to change the keyboard language every time.

I have tried removing the languages in both general/language and keyboard/languages and putting them back. Also tried to reset dictionary. But nothing worked. This is really frustrating as I type in both languages while I'm talking and I always have to correct them myself.

iPhone X, iOS 13
