When I shut down my MacBook Pro from the apple menu, It does not shut down, but, reboots, and I get the message that the Mac restarted because of a problem. This is VERY annoying.
Anyone have any idea's?

Did a clean install of High Sierra. No difference.
After much delving, found that if I turned OFF graphics switching, the problem was solved. I hope this helps someone in the future.

You could try to reset the PRAM and SMC and see if that helps? Here is how:
Sure, that's the extreme case. Make sure to back up everything if you go ahead with that.
You could use the diagnostics tool before that, however. Here's how.
Do you have the latest macOS available to you installed? What if you force the shut down by using the power button and then try to shut down as normal?
I have the latest macOS that my Mac will run. (High Sierra ). If I use the power button to shut down, it is OK. But, when I try to shut down using the apple logo etc., it reboots.
Tried That. It did not make any difference. I have reinstalled the OS using disc utility. Also, no difference.
Next. A complete CLEAN install of the OS.
Just run the diagnostics twice. No problems found!
