itunes uk account not working on apple tv app on tv abroad

i have an apple uk account and i want to log into the apple tv app on a tv abroad but i get the message that the app is not currently available in my region (which is not true). does anyone know if the problem is that you can’t log on to a uk account on a foreign tv? my phone, ipad and laptop are fine.

also, would buying an apple tv box fix this?
